Educational resources

 

If you’re a teacher or a group leader, we’ve got lots of great resources for you to use with your children. They range from colouring pages and worksheets to lesson plans and curriculum-linked programmes.

We’ve got a network of trained education volunteers who can visit your school or group free of charge to talk to the children about responsible pet and horse ownership. We also offer tours around our centres and video conferencing.

Foundation: We have a range of colouring-in pages which you can download and use to start a discussion with children about the basic needs of pets.

Key Stage One:
We have a number of fun and informative worksheets and posters to download.

Key Stage Two:
We have lots of worksheets and posters to download.

New Key Stage Two resources: Two whiteboard-friendly multimedia presentations with accompanying Tearchers' Notes and worksheets.

Key stage 3 and 4: We’ve produced a number of lesson plans and workshop ideas which you can download. We have limited work experience places for teenagers aged 14 and above and we can also send you examples of our direct marketing materials to use in projects. Email us to find out more.

Colleges and universities: We've created a free lesson plan and notes with interesting discussion points and scenarios to help young adults consider pet ownership and animal welfare issues.

Youth groups: We’ve produced a free pack which you can download. It’s full of fun ideas and games to help youngsters learn more about pet care and can also help uniformed groups with their badge work.

Whiteboard images:
We’ve got a number of images that you’re welcome to download and use on your interactive whiteboard to show children the different types of pets there are.

Wordsearches:
We’ve got wordsearches – including basic pet needs, veterinary work, dog breeds and horse equipment – which you can download, print out and use in your lessons.
