Animal heroes Clive and Willow give older cats a happy home

15 May 2012

Most people ignore the cats that are older or have health problems in favour of a younger, cuter model – that is unless you’re Clive and Willow Pople.

Blue Cross animal heroes Clive and Willow, from East Sussex, have rehomed not one but two cats who were struggling to find happy homes.

The couple, who also volunteer at our Northiam rehoming centre, have given these older moggies a second chance at life and the love they deserve.

Clive says: “We’ve both had cats all our lives and most of them have been rescue cats. Older cats make wonderful pets and bring you great enjoyment.”

The first Blue Cross cat lucky enough to win the heart of the Poples was Soxty (pictured above), an 11-year-old who had health problems and was finding life in the cattery very tough.

Clive says: “Soxty was very depressed and she wouldn’t get out of her basket. She had a problem with her spine and needed regular injections and, with everything combined, no one wanted to give her a home.

“But since she’s been living at home with us, she’s completely changed – she runs across the lawn and races around the house.”

The Poples have also just rehomed Sam, a 13-year-old cat who had to have surgery to remove polyps in his ear.

Clive says: “Sam is everything I’ve ever wanted in a cat – he sits on my lap and purrs at me all day. He’s a super cat and I love him dearly.

“Cats bring such joy to your life and we wouldn’t be without Soxty and Sam.”

Blue Cross has older cats looking for loving homes and our supported rehoming scheme can help towards the vet bills for pets with specific health problems. Please visit our rehoming pages today to meet some of the cats.
