Animal hero Duncan helps to boost sales at Blue Cross charity shop
13 Jun 2012Volunteering at a Blue Cross charity shop is a great way to get involved in the local community and help raise money for sick and unwanted pets, as animal hero Duncan Williams found out.
Duncan volunteers at our Droitwich shop three times a week, helping to sort and organise the books for sale.
He’s always on hand to help customers with their queries and his hard work has helped to boost the sales of our books.
Now the shop, in St Andrews Street, is considered one of the best places in town to buy second hand books.
Duncan says: “I was inspired after hearing reports on TV and radio about all the incredible things other people were doing for charity – from swimming the Thames to walking a tightrope across Battersea Power Station.
“I wanted to do something to help a charity myself and, as I’m an animal lover, I got in contact with Blue Cross to see if I could give some of my free time.”
Duncan adds: “I really enjoy helping out at the shop – I get to talk to lots of customers and listen to their interests and needs.
“The shop’s really well run and it’s a great place to volunteer.”
We have 28 shops that raise vital finds to help sick and homeless pets at Blue Cross. Find out more about volunteering at one of our charity shops.
