Schoolboy donates competition prize to help homeless pets

18 Jul 2012

Schoolboy Ashley Ford has helped homeless and unwanted pets look and feel top notch after donating some snazzy grooming products to Blue Cross.

Animal hero Ashley, from Crediton, Devon, won the products in a competition at a local dog grooming salon to name a large plastic dog.

When his suggestion of the name Titch won, he kindly decided to give his prize to the Blue Cross rehoming centre in Tiverton so homeless pets could benefit.

He dropped in to give us the prize and was treated to a tour around the centre and a chance to meet some of the pets in our care.

Sarah Bussell, Blue Cross centre manager, says; “It’s so kind of Ashley to think of us at Blue Cross and donate his prize.

“As we don’t receive any government funding, support from local people and businesses is really important to us to help us continue caring for unwanted and abandoned pets.

Sarah adds: “We’re really pleased to have fantastic young supporters like Ashley.”
