Blue Cross was joined by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to recognise outstanding veterinary achievement at the prestigious British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) awards. 

The Princess Royal presented Keith Meldrum with the equine welfare award, which is sponsored by Blue Cross, for his tireless work to improve animal welfare through the development and enactment of regulation.

Mr Meldrum is widely respected for his encyclopaedic knowledge of animal health and welfare legislation and no committee on these subjects is complete without the benefit of his experience and probing questions.

Over the past decade  Mr Meldrum has been veterinary consultant for organisations such as World Horse Welfare and has been involved in issues ranging from transportation regulation, through contraception for semi-feral ponies, to disease control.
