We're calling for nominations from veterinary practices across the country for the Veterinary Nurse of the Year Award 2011.

The annual accolade is presented at the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) Annual Congress. It recognises the contribution of veterinary nurses in educating the public about responsible pet ownership and the welfare of pets in the community. This year’s Congress will take place on 7 - 9 October at the Kettering Conference Centre, Northamptonshire.

Last year’s award was won by Nicola Ackerman for her commitment to improving animal welfare, both within her veterinary practice and among the local community in Plymouth, Devon.

Nicola was nominated for the award by veterinary nurses at The Veterinary Hospital Group surgery in Plymouth, and her husband Chris.

Nicola said: “I was absolutely gobsmacked when I found out I had won this award and it took a while to sink in.”

Nominations for this year’s award can be made by completing the online nomination form.
