CEO Kim Hamilton
The voice from the top
Blue Cross CEO Kim Hamilton has always loved animals but she didn’t start out in charity work – in fact she was a hot shot banker and one of the first women traders in the city. She worked in London and New York, at times in tower 7 of the World Trade Centre, but everything changed following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The tragic events of that day made Kim realise she needed to change her priorities, get out of the fast lane of city life and put her family first. So she relocated from the bright lights of New York to a sleepy village in the English countryside with her partner Maria and their three beloved dogs.
Kim may have turned her back on a jet-set lifestyle but now she gets even more satisfaction from helping animals in need. Since she joined Blue Cross three years ago she’s had to make some tough decisions to maintain the charity’s success during the recession and she instigated a company-wide restructure to make sure Blue Cross is as effective as it can be in achieving its goals, to help as many animals as possible, both now and in the future.
