Giants and dwarf bunnies looking for new homes

05 Dec 2011

The Blue Cross adoption centre in Burford has been over-run with giant and dwarf bunnies. We need your help in finding loving new homes for them.

A number of bunnies were rescued recently from their old home where they had been sadly neglected. Among the group are giant papillons, continental giants and Netherland dwarves.

The biggest of the bunch was Betty who, at a massive 7kg, weighed as much as a small dog.

Rabbits are great companions for those who may not be at home all day but still have the time to give them the attention and stimulation they need.

Katie Stiles, Blue Cross animal welfare assistant at the Burford adoption centre said: “These gorgeous girls and boys have had a difficult start in life after coming from a home where they were not getting all the love and attention they need.

“We have been inundated with bunnies this year – either given up to us, dumped or found stray – and it is desperately sad that these lovely pets are being treated as if they are disposable. These bunnies deserve a second chance and it would be great for them to spend this Christmas in loving new homes.”
