Cat Emily is a victim of our throwaway culture

Emily the cat has become a victim of our throwaway culture after being discarded like a piece of rubbish.

The one-year-old moggy was found abandoned at the bottom of our Bromsgrove rehoming centre driveway by a passerby, who was able to alert our team before Emily came any closer to the busy passing traffic.

Nikki Halfpenny, a Blue Cross Animal Welfare Assistant, said: “Luckily, Emily was found before she was hit by a car.

“When she first arrived at the centre, Emily was very shy and spent most of her time hiding away. She was thin, hungry and covered in dirt. Sadly, she looked like she hadn’t been loved for a very long time.”

With time and patience, Emily warmed to our Bromsgrove centre team and they quickly bonded.

We soon discovered Emily is a real foodie, and we used treats to help her to realise how much fun playtime can be.

This also meant we could help her get back to a healthy weight. Once Emily was ready and had had the all clear from our vet, we began the search for a new home for this lovely girl.

Emily will shortly be off to her new home, where she will always be loved and wanted no matter what.
