French fundraise for The Blue Cross

Christian Bamber with piles of Euros

The long-running French TV programme '30 Million dames' featured the veterinary work of The Blue Cross in a recent episode screened on the channel France TV3. There are no charitable vet services for French pet owners on a low income and the programme makers were very impressed with how The Blue Cross help so many pets in need.

'La Fondation 30 millions d'Amis' is a fundraising organisation linked to the TV series. They host a fountain at Disney Village Paris which encourages visitors to thrown in their coins to help needy animals. The coins are collected every three years, the Euros are donated to a French animal charity and the sterling coins are given to a British animal charity who has been featured in their most recent series.

The Blue Cross were delighted to be nominated as the recipient of the recent coin collection and crew members from the programme brought the coins across on Eurostar.

Christian Bamber, Blue Cross veterinary director met the crew at the Victoria animal hospital and gratefully received the bags of coins, which weighed over 172Kg and amounted to £1,474.
