Permission granted for Burford rehoming centre upgrade

We’re thrilled to reveal that we have been given the green light to rebuild our Burford rehoming centre.

Last year our Burford centre helped over 900 dogs, cats and small animals. But when work is complete, we will be able to double the number of pets we can care for in the area.

Our new facilities will boast a new area to house dogs, with bigger, more comfortable kennels, an improved new cattery to reduce disease and help more cats, dedicated puppy and kitten units, new veterinary facilities and a refurbished reception area where new owners can meet pets looking for homes.

Jenna Martyn, Burford Rehoming Centre Manager, explains: “Everyone here is delighted that we’ve been given the go-ahead to rebuild parts of our rehoming centre.

“Our current facilities are out of date, but our new site will offer higher standards of care and comfort to the pets that come through our doors.”

Building work will be done in stages, which will allow us to remain open as usual.

Jenna adds: “It’s all very exciting and will make a huge difference to pets in need. Now our plans have been given the green light, we will be raising much needed funds – if anyone in the local community would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from them.”

Work for the new and improved centre on Shilton Road is expected to begin in autumn this year.
