Getting it right first time Animal adoption is a great way to find an animal companion, and we have lots of different animals looking for new homes. The staff in our 11 adoption centres are experts in animal rehoming, and work hard to find new owners who are a perfect match. Being given up for adoption is stressful enough for any animal, so we make every effort to ensure that we are rehoming the animal into a happy new home that will last a lifetime. The last thing an adopted animal needs is to be rejected again. We would ask any potential adopters to think carefully about the responsibilities of caring for pets before deciding to go through the adoption process. There are huge differences in terms of requirements to care for different types and breeds of pet. Our centre staff will be pleased to advise you of your best course of action in this. Visit our All About Pets website to view our wide range of FREE leaflets that cover all aspects of responsible pet care. Our process We take the adoption procedure very seriously. Our animal adoption process is rigorous, and includes; - Checking for any special requirements the animal may have
- Dealing with physical ailments or behavioural problems before rehoming the animal. The Blue Cross was the first UK animal welfare charity to create its own specialist animal behaviour team
- Screening each potential owner to ensure they are right for the animal
In recent years the percentage of rehomed animals returned to us has fallen dramatically. We believe our commitment to careful matchmaking is responsible for this encouraging trend. |
