The Blue Cross Britain's pet charity

Irish Blue Cross

The Irish Blue Cross was established in 1945, and put its first mobile veterinary clinic onto the streets of Dublin in 1953. Since its foundation the charity has continued to develop the service whilst extending its support for needy pets through partnership with private veterinary practices.

What we do

Mobile clinic service
Five days a week the Irish Blue Cross mobile veterinary clinic visits ten communities in the Dublin area with the help of 30 volunteers.

Veterinary support
The charity works with private veterinary practices by contributing to the cost of operations if owners cannot afford it.

Horse ambulances
The Irish Blue Cross's horse ambulances are a familiar sight in Ireland - supporting veterinary surgeons at around 150 race meetings, the RDS Horse Show and other equine events every year.

Links with The Blue Cross
Since its inception in 1945, the charity has been affiliated to The Blue Cross in the UK, which provides some of its funding.
