The Mayflower Sanctuary, Narrow Lane, Bawtry, Doncaster first opened its doors to the public in June 2003. It is situated near Doncaster and its catchment area covers:

South Yorkshire - Doncaster, Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham
North Nottinghamshire - Mansfield area
Parts of Derbyshire

Rehoming dogs and cats
The sanctuary receives dogs from dog wardens throughout the catchment area and also as receives pets direct from the public. Jennie Foxall-Lord manages the sanctuary day to day and there are two part time paid staff, one full time and many other volunteers who help on site.

There are two recently built kennel blocks, each designed to hold eight dogs. In addition there are some older kennels, which are due to be replaced as funds allow. The total capacity at the centre is 40 dogs.

Cats are currently cared for and rehomed by a local volunteer (a fosterer) who has space for approximately 30 cats, mostly in communal pens. The fosterer also works to Mayflower policies and procedures.
