On 13 April 2008 - a cold, wet Sunday - 41 Blue Cross runners took their place at the start of the London Marathon, ready to run the 26.2 mile course. Congratulations to each and every one for finishing.

As a result of their hard work, over £40,000 was collectively raised which will help many animals in our care.

If you were inspired after this year's Marathon and would like to fulfil your ambition of crossing that finishing line then why not apply for one of our guaranteed places and join The Blue Cross Team.

Applying for a place

Guaranteed Places
The Blue Cross has limited guaranteed places for the 2009 London Marathon on 26 April 2009, and by endeavouring to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship of £1,500, a place could be yours. We do also ask you to apply to the Flora London Marathon official ballot for your own place; you can do this by logging on to www.london-marathon.co.uk. The ballot will open on 13 April 2008 and if you are we would welcome you to still come and join us on The Blue Cross team.

The Blue Cross Team
When you join The Blue Cross Team, whether it be through one of our guaranteed places or you've been successful in getting your own place, you will receive a runner's pack crammed with top tips on training, nutrition and preparation for the big day as well as fundraising ideas and advice. We will kit you out with a running vest and you will be invited to our post race reception, where you can recover with a soothing massage.

Further details
To be part of The Blue Cross team, either e mail events@bluecross.org.uk or call Heather on 01993 825567. Alternatively you can download the application form.
