A day with the cats at Burford adoption centre

First thing in the morning we make up the feeds for all the cats and give them all their breakfast.

Then all the pens get cleaned, so we change the litter trays and sweep up any mess on the floor.

We also have to make sure all the cats keep up to date with any medical treatments, such as vaccinations, de-worming and de-fleaing.

We do a lot of work with cats who have behaviour issues. Here is Becky who is our longest staying cat.  When she came to us she didn’t  enjoy human attention but after we did some work with her using yummy treats and gentle strokes she now enjoys lots of fuss!

We receive a lot of kittens at the centre so another key job is to properly socialise them so they get used to people. This means we spend a lot of time stroking them and playing with them, like Joseph who you can see here who has had a lot of health problems but has now been successfully rehomed.

When a cat stays with us for a long time we try to publicise them to try to get them a home quicker.

Making posters and displays is the perfect way to get our longest stayers noticed.
