Cares for: cats and dogs Thirsk animal adoption centre was opened in 1987 and was partly converted from old boarding kennels. One building on the site was used by the RAF during the Second World War. The centre serves North Yorkshire, Teesside and parts of West Yorkshire. Much of the centre was rebuilt in 2009 to create state-of-the-art dog kennels and other new facilities. The centre can accommodate up to 25 dogs and 40 cats. Hundreds of animals are successfully rehomed every year.
