Archie

Archiebefore

Archie came into The Blue Cross in a bad way.

It took hard work and a lot of TLC to help Archie feel better.

Thanks to your donations The Blue Cross has given Archie a new lease of life!

Name: Archie

Breed: Shetland

Background:  Archie was bought on the spur of the moment. His new owners made him walk for six miles in the heavy snow because they didn't have a trailer. Even worse, Archie’s new owners lacked the experience to recognise his poor walking action, which was due to curvature of the spine. So the long walk could have caused him even more suffering. When he finally arrived at his new home there was no warm stable waiting for him, only a tiny garden. His coat was riddled with lice and matted with old droppings and his feet were so out of shape it hurt to walk. He developed a dangerous infection but his owners thought it was just a runny nose.

Thankfully Archie was rescued and eventually brought to us at The Blue Cross and after intensive treatment is recovering from his ordeal. Our farrier reshaped his feet and we gave him antibiotics and delousing medication.

Archie's made great progress and is enjoying a new lease of life. He loves being out in the field and grabbing a bite to eat with his pals.

We have the expertise to help horses and ponies like Archie but we can't do it without you. You can help us to give needy animals like him a brighter future by making a much-needed donation.
