The Blue Cross adoption centre in Northiam is now home to a new centre manager, Maria Marmo, who used to work as the veterinary nurse manager at the charitys animal hospital in Merton, London. Maria has moved to Northiam to help take care of the areas needy cats and dogs. The centre currently has 23 cats and 9 dogs looking for homes, many of which are long stay animals. These are pets that have been at the centre for some time, and are desperate to find homes. Maria is hoping to rehome lots of these friendly pets soon, as lots of cats in Kent and East Sussex are having trouble finding new homes. Maria said: Its fantastic to be working here in Northiam, in such a lovely part of the country. I am really looking forward to helping as many of the areas homeless pets as possible and getting to know all the new prospective owners. We have lots of animals looking for loving new homes with the right owners. Come and visit the centre and meet me, the other dedicated staff and, of course, the animals. The centre is running a fun dog show and open day on Sunday 4 September at 11am. It is £1 per class to enter, and there will be rosettes for the winners up to fourth place. There is a special class for the best rehomed Blue Cross dog. There will also be a boot sale to raise funds for the centre. Anyone who feels they can offer an animal a home, should call the adoption centre 01797 252243, or visit the adoption centre St Francis Fields, Nothiam, Sussex, TN31 6LP. Notes to editors The Blue Cross is Britain's pet charity, providing practical support, information and advice for pet and horse owners. Through its network of animal adoption centres it rehomes thousands of animals each year. Its hospitals provide veterinary care for the pets of people who cannot afford private vets' fees.
