LOCAL AIRMAN HITS THE ROAD FOR LOCAL CHARITY

Local marathon runner, Glen Leslie from Louth in North East Lincolnshire, is running the Flora London Marathon to help raise funds for The Blue Cross pet charity.

Glen, 37, who works as a RAF aircraft technician, has been busy training in a bid to complete the course in less than four hours.

“This is the third time I’ve run the London Marathon for The Blue Cross. Running 26 miles will be a real challenge but remembering why I’m doing it will drive me on to the finishing line”, says Glen.

Events like the marathon help The Blue Cross to raise funds needed to continue their work, and it is only through the support of people like Glen that it is able to continue fulfilling its role caring for sick and abandoned animals.

Local Blue Cross animal hospital, which has been open on Cleethorpe Road in Grimsby since 1959, is currently trying to raise funds to rebuild a new hospital in the area. The animal charity still has £240,000 to raise to complete the appeal and are relying on the local community to help reach its target.

If you would like to sponsor Glen or if you already have a place to run in the London Marathon and would like to join Glen in raising money for The Blue Cross, please contact the charity’s events team on 01993 825557 or email events@bluecross.org.uk.
