| The Blue Cross adoption centre in Torbay is appealing for unwanted gifts or old shop stock that can be used as prizes to raise money to help look after the cats in their care. Over the summer, the centre has a calendar of fundraising events planned and desperately needs the donations to use as prizes for tombolas and lucky dips. Daisy, one cat currently boarding at the centre, was handed over after becoming unfriendly when her owner died after a long illness. When she arrived at The Blue Cross she had no interest in food, spending her first two days hiding under a blanket. She was soon diagnosed with severe cystitis and required a biopsy of her bladder to check for damage. Daisy has now been on treatment for a month and is a very different little lady. She sits and paws at the door for her breakfast, plays with the staff and then settles down for a snooze before lunch. In the afternoons, she entertains staff and volunteers with her antics, and she loves having her ears tickled. Centre manager Laura Valentine says, Daisy will make a full recovery, and is now a lovely, sociable cat. We need to raise money over the summer so we can keep helping cats like Daisy who can sometimes need expensive veterinary treatment. Any donations of items that can be used as prizes in our tombolas will be gratefully received. Anyone who can donate to the centre, or offer Daisy a home, should call The Blue Cross adoption centre in Torbay on 01803 327 728, or visit them at Ashley Priors Lane, Watcombe, Torquay.
