Shoppers in Fleet are in for a treat

Local shoppers will be able to pick up a bargain and help needy animals when The Blue Cross pet charity opens a shop on Fleet Road next week.

Dominic Busby, presenter of BBC Southern Counties Radio’s Drivetime programme, will preside over events at the official opening ceremony at 11am on Wednesday 19 October where members of the public will have the opportunity to catch opening bargains and have a glass of wine with the staff.

Tony Samuel, director of marketing and fundraising at The Blue Cross, said: “This is an important project for The Blue Cross and we are delighted to be opening a shop in Fleet. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of animals that need aid from charities like The Blue Cross and this charity shop opening will help to ensure funds are available for the sick and abandoned animals in our care.”

The Blue Cross shop will sell men’s, women’s and children’s clothes and accessories, books, household items, soft furnishings, toys and a range of greetings cards and Christmas cards. The shop will also have Blue Cross information and pet care advice literature. It will be open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 5pm.

Animal lovers who are able to spare time to volunteer in the shop can contact Julie Rosekilly on 01993 825595. Any saleable donations of clothes, household bric-a-brac and books will be gratefully received by The Blue Cross at the shop at 187 Fleet Road.
