Local actress and singer Miss Helen Watson is staging a night of comedy, music and variety at the South Wimbledon Club on Wednesday 19 October, in aid of The Blue Cross animal hospital. The evenings entertainment, titled Seasonal Sauce, promises to be an extravaganza of music hall style entertainment with just a hint of traditional sauce. Joining Helen, who has just finished filming Down to Earth for the BBC, will be her friends from Londons West End, television colleagues Howell Evans and Patricia Kane of Little Britain fame and Jim McManus from Don't Try this at Home. Miss Watson says: I have first hand experience of the wonderful work of The Blue Cross, so I am delighted to put on Seasonal Sauce in aid of the charity. It does such valuable work for animals and their owners, who otherwise might not be able to afford to own a pet. All proceeds from the show will go to the Blue Cross hospital in Merton, which provides veterinary care for people in the area that cannot afford private vets fees. Tickets for the show are available from the hospital on Merton High Street or by phoning Lisa Tingley 020 7932 4071. Notes to editors The Blue Cross is Britain's pet charity, providing practical support, information and advice for pet and horse owners. Through its network of animal adoption centres it rehomes thousands of animals each year. Its hospitals provide veterinary care for the pets of people who cannot afford private vets' fees.
