The Blue Cross Britain's pet charity

Fleet coffee morning

Britain’s pet charity, The Blue Cross, is a calling on the people of Fleet to give up some of their time to help needy pets and their owners.

On Tuesday 11 October, from 10am – 12pm, the charity will be holding a coffee morning at its new shop at 187 Fleet Road where it hopes to enlist the help of volunteer shop assistants.

Julie Rosekilly, retail manager at The Blue Cross, said: “We are very excited to be opening a shop in Fleet and we desperately need the help of local animal lovers to ensure it is the success we all hope it will be.

“Visitors to the coffee morning will enjoy refreshments and be given the opportunity to find out more about volunteering for The Blue Cross. Previous experience of working in retail is not essential as full training will be given.”

Animal lovers who are unable to give their spare time to help support the new shop can donate clothes, household bric-a-brac and books. All donations will be grateful received by the Fleet shop.

The charity is planning a grand opening of the shop on 19 October.

Notes to editors
The Blue Cross is Britain's pet charity, providing practical support, information and advice for pet and horse owners. Through its network of animal adoption centres it rehomes thousands of animals each year. Its hospitals provide veterinary care for the pets of people who cannot afford private vets' fees.

The Fleet shop is the third outlet opened by The Blue Cross – the other ones are in Summertown, Oxford and in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
