Dursley shop opening

Local shoppers are being invited to pick up a bargain and join in the celebrations at the official opening of The Blue Cross charity shop on Parsonage Street, Dursley.

Faye Hatcher, the well-known host of BBC Radio Gloucestershire’s Daybreak show, will preside over events at the official opening ceremony at 11am on Wednesday 28 February where members of the public will have the opportunity to catch opening bargains and have a glass of wine with the staff.

Tony Samuel, Blue Cross director of marketing, said: “This is an important project for The Blue Cross and we are delighted to have a shop in Dursley. Since the shop opened its doors last month it has already helped many sick and abandoned animals in our care.”

The Blue Cross shop sells clothes and accessories, books, household items, toys and a range of greetings cards. It also stocks Blue Cross information and pet care advice literature.

Animal lovers who are able to spare time to volunteer in the shop can contact the manager on 01453 548646. Any saleable donations of clothes, household bric-a-brac and books will be gratefully received by the shop at 25/27 Parsonage Street.

Notes to editors
The Blue Cross is Britain's pet charity, providing practical support, information and advice for pet and horse owners. Through its network of animal adoption centres it rehomes thousands of animals each year. Its hospitals provide veterinary care for the pets of people who cannot afford private vets' fees.
