29/10/2007 Homeless black cats at The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Burford are working their magic this Halloween to attract loving new owners. The black cats being cared for at the centre have so far been overlooked, despite their reputation for bringing good luck. Phoenix and Ribble are a pair of five-month-old cats looking for a new home together. They are very affectionate cats who were brought to the Blue Cross when their owner could no longer look after them. So far they have been very busy playing with the autumn leaves. Susy came to the Blue Cross centre in Burford after she was found as a stray. She is about six-months-old and still a bit shy but becomes really affectionate when she comes out of her shell. Rowena Grew, Blue Cross deputy manager at Burford said: Potential adopters who visit the centre are often more interested in the more colourful cat varieties like tabbies and tortoiseshell cats. But we are encouraging people to look again at the black cats who need new homes because we think they're magic.
