David Cameron visit

David Cameron, MP for Witney, has visited the Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Burford.

Mr Cameron was at the centre to meet the animals currently looking for permanent homes and to learn about the work of The Blue Cross in rehoming small animals and rehabilitating equines. He also discussed the positive role of animals in society and confirmed to Blue Cross chief executive John Rutter his support of the Animal Welfare Bill which is currently going through Parliament.

Animal welfare assistants - who look after and help rehome animals every day - met the Conservative party leader as he was shown around the centre. He was also shown the rehabilitation and rehoming work of the equine department by equine centre manager Joe Harter.

Mr Cameron said: "It was very interesting to see the work of The Blue Cross and meet such dedicated staff. The animals were obviously being cared for very well while they wait for new homes."

Small animal centre manager Helen Wright said: "It was great to meet Mr Cameron and it is always vital to have the support of your local MP. He seemed to enjoy meeting the kittens and puppies, and we were pleased to be able to tell him about our work and why it is so important."
