Blue Cross sets up shop in Stroud

Jilly Cooper Stroud shop opening

Author Jilly Cooper helped to officially open the latest Blue Cross charity shop in Stroud, Gloucestershire on Thursday 17 July.

The shop presents locals with a worthwhile excuse to go bargain hunting and help needy animals in the process. Local resident Jilly is also a long-standing supporter of The Blue Cross, and cut the ribbon with the help of her own dog, Feather the greyhound.

Blue Cross shop manager, Margaret Poulton said: “We’ve had such a warm welcome from people since we opened our doors here in Stroud, including from Mayor John Marjoram, who has popped into the shop to wish us well. We’d really like to encourage people to visit us and we’re always grateful for donations of clothes and household bric-a-brac. All the money raised goes towards helping the sick and homeless animals cared for by The Blue Cross at our adoption centres and hospitals.”

The new shop will generate vital funds for The Blue Cross, through the sale of items donated by the public. The shop stocks clothes and accessories, books, household items, toys and a range of greetings cards, as well as Blue Cross information and pet care advice literature.

Animal lovers who are able to spare time to volunteer in the shop are invited to contact the manager on 01453 757713. Any saleable donations of clothes, household bric-a-brac and books will be gratefully received at The Blue Cross charity shop, 62 High Street, Stroud, Gloucestershire, GL5 1AS.
