The Blue Cross has presented its first Equine Welfare Awards to acknowledge the hard work of equine students towards the welfare of horses and ponies.

Rosie Mogford, Blue Cross equine welfare education officer says "There are many prizes for academic and equestrian excellence and we felt there was a place to reward those who really made a difference to the horses."

Jenna Reilly (pictured left) studies at Moreton Morrell and received her award on 1 July. Jenna has demonstrated a high standard of horse care, welfare and management throughout her two year as a residential student. "Jenna regularly worked during the holiday periods on the college yard, proving to be a responsible and conscientious worker," says her tutor.

Jenna joins the following students who have been awarded with a Blue Cross Equine Welfare Award:

Stephanie Godfrey, Abingdon and Witney College

Lindsay Bayley, Merrist Wood

Jess Duffield, Brooksby Melton College

Kerry Rashliegh, Duchy College

Isobel Draper, Hadlow College

Dannielle Perry, Plumpton College

Stephanie Cooke, Rodbaston College
