The Blue Cross is highly commended

The Blue Cross is celebrating after its new calendar was highly commended.

The charity’s eCalendar was given the honour for innovation in the first annual Professional Fundraising Charity Calendar of the Year competition.

The category was created especially for the charity because the judges were so impressed.

Judge and deputy editor of Professional Fundraising, Celina Ribeiro, said: “The breadth of calendar styles and charities represented in the competition was extremely impressive.

“The idea of an e-calendar, as put forward by Blue Cross, was a great and novel idea – likely to be copied in future by other charities. Not only is the product a low-cost,   high-return fundraising concept, but environmentally friendly and also a great way to engage with supporters who find no practical use for paper calendars.” 

The Blue Cross teamed up with Wantacalendar to launch the 2010 eCalendar. A donation of 25 per cent (£1.50) of the recommended retail price from each sale will go towards helping animals in need.

Both dog and cat calendars are available. They cost £6 and can be bought online
