You may remember Molly from our equine appeal earlier this year. We would like to thank all of you who donated to this appeal. Molly was rescued from a farm in Wales where she suffered severe neglect and an injury which resulted in the loss of her right eye. Many of you contacted us to ask if the owner had been prosecuted, and we can now report that Mollys previous owner has been convicted on three counts of causing unnecessary suffering and is subject to a disqualification order which means she is banned from keeping horses, dogs and cattle for 10 years. Molly is now making excellent progress, she is really starting to show what a wonderful little pony she is. Although still cheeky, she has a very gentle, willing nature and her training is progressing nicely. A lot of time is being spent getting her used to things happening on her blind side as well as her sighted side and her confidence is growing daily. There was a marked increase in the number of welfare cases that came in to our centres in 2008 and it is becoming a much larger part of our equine work. With your help we can ensure Molly and many others like her have a much brighter future. Thank you. |
