Betsy makes a full recovery

Betsy

Betsy

A puppy who battled a life-threatening disease has made a full recovery.

We discovered Betsy had parvovirus shortly after she arrived at our Felixstowe adoption centre when she was two months old.

The Jack Russell crossbreed spent a week at the vets on a drip and was kept in isolation to avoid the disease spreading.

But she bounced back to health and is now loving life in her new home.

Her new owner Maria Houlihan spotted her when she was looking for a dog on The Blue Cross website.

She says: "I saw her picture and it was like she spoke to me. I had a feeling straight away that I must pursue this and when I met her I loved her instantly."

That was in May and now Betsy is a much-loved member of the household.

Maria says: "She's a very good natured dog and she makes friends with all other dogs and people.

"We've started her training classes and she's doing very well. But she's still a pup and loves doing somersaults with her toys and stealing socks.

"She's very curious and it nearly landed her in hot water the other day when we were out walking in the forest. An adder was sunbathing on the path and Betsy walked right up to it until her face was just inches away.

"I called her back immediately and lucky for Betsy the adder just slithered away."

Maria adds: "It's great having Betsy around. It’s like she’s always been here."
