Molly the dog, Monty the cat and Bernie the rabbit are on the election trail and looking for your support.

Do any of them have what it takes to win your vote?

The Blue Cross Burford adoption centre is holding its own election and it’s a fierce contest between the cat, dog and small animal parties.

You can read each party leader’s manifesto below.

Ballot forms are available at the centre and voting will close on the day of the general election, May 6, with the winning party being announced on May 7.

VOTE DOGS!
I’m Molly and I’m the dog party leader. Everyone knows dogs are the best so why vote for anything else? Vote dog and your vote won’t be wasted. The dog party will ensure every dog is walked daily and has a lovely, comfy bed for snoozing the day away. A daily treat of cheese or chicken is a must along with regular cuddles and belly rubs – heaven! So what are you waiting for? Grab that voting form and vote dog now!

VOTE CATS!
I, Monty, leader of the cat party ask you to use your vote wisely and vote for cats. A vote for cats will not be wasted. The party will ensure a daily meal of fish or chicken for all cats. We will demand plenty of fuss and attention and a comfy lap to curl up on, companionship for those who require friends plus fun toys to play with. We’re the best so vote for cats, anything else is a wasted vote.

VOTE SMALL ANIMALS!
As leader of the small animal party I, Bernie rabbit, urge you to vote smallies! A vote for smallies will mean fairness for all small animals. We will ensure fresh fruit and vegetables for all and regular outdoor exercise or time out of cages. Companionship for all who need it and plenty of activities to keep us busy, toys to play with and items to chew. Vote for small animals, you know it’s the right choice!
