The results of the election everyone’s been talking about are in – and the winners are the dogs.

It was a fierce competition between the dog, cat and small animal parties but there was no hung parliament here.

Dogs were the clear winners with 101 votes, cats came second with 84 and small animals came third with 34 votes.

The election was held at our Burford adoption centre where the staff and animals tried to impress voters with their manifestos.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Jackson Veterinary Clinic who joined in with the election and raised £106.90.

Leader of the dog party, Molly, says: “WE WON!  A huge thank you to everyone who voted for the dog party.

“It proves that dogs really are the best. I, Molly, leader of the party, will now make it my job to ensure all dogs are happy and healthy.

“Every dog will get a daily walk, a warm and comfy bed, plenty of belly rubs and tasty food every day.  What a life!

“Waggy tails all round!  A big lick to all the dog lovers out there!”

Thank you to all who joined in the fun. The winner of the prize draw will be picked tonight and will be contacted next week.
