We are urging potential cat owners to think twice before adopting a single cat and consider a pair. Currently, over a quarter of our cats in adoption care requires re-homing with another and, unfortunately, these feline duos are being left behind in favour of solo animals. Our adoption centres in Southampton and Cambridge are particularly seeing double over the issue. Southampton adoption centre manager Kelly Brooks said: Although most cats are solitary animals, some who have grown up together cant bear to be separated. "We are pulling out all the stops to find loving new homes for these lifelong companions so that they can continue living happily side by side. "We hope that anyone thinking of taking on an only pet will do a double take when they see the lovely cat couples here! One pair of homeless cats include Katie and Moses who were brought to our Southamption centre last month after their owner sadly died. They are in their senior years and would love a cosy home to spend their retirement. Katie and Moses would prefer a quiet home with older children as they are not used to a busy household and they would need to be the only pets in the home.
