When Amanda Fuller’s kitten went missing she was heartbroken.

After months of searching for her, she wasn’t sure if she would ever be ready to have another cat.

But now the family has fallen in love with Blue Cross rescue cat Chalkie – and Amanda says he’s already ruling the roost.

She says: “I cried for days when our kitten disappeared and looked for her for months, in fact we still do. We then moved house and finally thought about having another cat.

“I popped into The Blue Cross Southampton adoption centre as I had a few hours to spare while my girls were with their grandparents and had a look at the cats.

“I was pointed in the direction of Piggles, now Chalkie. I returned with my girls and they fell in love with him straight away.

She adds: “My fiance was next to see him and the cat was amazing with all of us. We passed the home visit and collected Chalkie the next day.”

It didn’t take long before Chalkie felt at home.

Amanda says: “He took it all in his stride and now supervises most things that go on.

“He sleeps on the children's bunk beds at night and lies in the sun in the conservatory in the day.

“He’s a real delight to have around and is so well behaved. We were so grateful for all the help and advice we received from The Blue Cross and will give Chalkie the best life he could wish for.”
