Helping animals in Hungerford

hungerford200

The Blue Cross has opened its 14th charity shop.

Mayor Elizabeth Cardwell helped us to mark the celebrations by cutting the ribbon at the shop in Hungerford.

Our giant mascot Barney the dog also helped visitors get into the party spirit.

Shop manager Jane Angel, said: “We have a lovely location here in Hungerford and would like to encourage as many people as possible to visit the shop.

“Why not pop in for a look around as you’re walking along the canal? And with spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to have a clearout at home and bring your unwanted items in to us.

“We are very grateful for any donations and all the money we raise in the shop goes towards the care of poorly and homeless pets.”

Jane also encouraged local businesses to help. She said: “We need a lot of stock to keep the shop going and would like to encourage local companies to get involved.

“If they ask their employees to bring in at least one quality item each on a given day, The Blue Cross would be happy to collect the donations.

“Just £20 will help keep an animal warm and comfortable while we find it a loving new home, so every little helps.”

Any animal lovers with time to spare who are interested in joining the shop’s team of volunteers should pop into the shop at 1 High Street to find out more or call manager Jane for a chat on 01488 684151.
