Sandbag needs a home

Remember Sandbag? He and his dog and cat pals were rescued from Iraq last year.

After a fundraising campaign, the former soldiers’ mascots were flown to the UK where they spent time in quarantine before they could be rehomed.

The good news is that Royal and Hesco have found loving homes but dogs Sandbag and Dirtbag are still at the kennels.

Steve Goody, The Blue Cross director of external affairs said: “Sandbag and Dirtbag have completed their quarantine and are now preparing to move into a special home where they can gradually adjust to domestic life.

“The support for these soldiers’ mascots has been incredible and enabled us to raise £14,000 to bring them back to the UK. I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to the appeal, who can today feel proud of their part in giving these pets the chance of a safe and secure future."
