Holly was a stray whose owner never came to claim her. We soon learned what her favourite things were having her belly rubbed and lying the sun. And if you have a bone or chew, shes yours forever. Shes so affectionate she even tries to get on your knee for a cuddle and shes hardly a Chihuahua! When Holly arrived, we realized that she had developed a few naughty habits and she has been undergoing intensive training. The two-year-old had been taught to play extremely roughly by her previous owners and while shes not being aggressive, it could look like this to a novice dog handler. Holly needs a home with no young children as they would be too frightened of her exuberance and mouthy behaviour. She could live with teenagers but not with other dogs or cats. Her new owner would have to be careful when they took her on walks as shes not too sociable with other dogs. Holly has come in leaps and bounds (quite literally!) over the last few months. Now she knows how to play nicely, sit, lie, roll over, release a toy on command and come when called. Her lead work still needs some improvement and shell have to learn how to obey these commands from her new owners and not just Blue Cross staff. Were looking for a very specific home for Holly. Wed like her new owner to be used to bull breeds or rottweilers so they would understand her temperament. She could be left alone for two or three hours and she travels well in the car. She doesnt have any health problems and is neutered. Shed like to live in an area that isnt overpopulated by lots of other dogs and her new owner would need to have lots of patience and be willing to take on her training. In turn, well give advice before, during and after the adoption. Holly is at our adoption centre in Thirsk, north Yorkshire. Shed love a new home could you be the one to give her that?
