Forget the seven dwarves meet this group of lovely boys. The greyhounds were left unwanted after a racetrack in Wales closed and were taken in by our Blue Cross adoption centre in Burford. Two are lucky enough to have been reserved already but the other five are looking for loving homes. Kennel supervisor Jenny Woolliams says: They will require quiet, patient owners who will have the honour of transforming them into wonderful family pets. Greyhounds and lurchers make ideal pets as a breed they are usually gentle, submissive and non-aggressive. Believe it or not they are lazy! They require very little from you apart from your company, a soft bed, warmth and adequate food. The boys are: Stan, Mr Darcy, Spider, Blaze, Goldie, Jimmy and Harry. Mr Darcy is three years old and still fairly exuberant. He is very affectionate towards everyone he meets but can be wary of meeting different dog breeds. Spider is very special. The five-year-old has sustained a few injuries in his racing career but he is now recovering well and is responding to our training. He loves other greyhounds but can be unsure of boisterous dogs. Goldie is five years old and a beautiful blue/grey colour. Despite being the eldest he is one of the most lively of our greyhounds. He is still wary of other breeds and prefers the company of greyhounds so we would love him to go as a pair or to live with an existing similar type dog. Joyful Jimmy really is a joy. He is five years old and very affectionate with people. The clever boy has also learnt to retrieve a toy. Handsome Harry is three years old. He is extremely affectionate and responding really well to training here at the centre. He is very relaxed with other dog breeds. Stan, the largest of the boys, is a gentle giant. He is five years old but still loves to play and is very calm meeting other dogs. Beautiful Blaze is three years old and is very relaxed. Both of these have been reserved. |
