| A horse found with battery acid burns is looking for someone to give her a second chance in life. Tia Maria was bought with a nasty wound on her back caused by acid being poured over her to try to remove her freezemark. Another horse she was with had cigarette burns all over her face. Both horses were discovered by a past owner of Tia Maria, who had seen her advertised in a magazine and went to view her before buying. She was so shocked to see what condition she was in that she bought her and the other horse. Due to ridden difficulties and a change in personal circumstances, she was unable to continue with Tia Maria so she contacted The Blue Cross to take Tia to make sure she didnt fall into the wrong hands again. She is now looking for a new home under our loan scheme. Deputy manager of our Burford equine centre, Kate Gloyn, says: After completing her training it was agreed that she would be happier as a non-ridden companion horse providing companionship to other horses. Due to her past Tia doesnt like to be left on her own so is looking for a home where she will have constant company. She is good to handle and to see the vet and farrier and she will happily live in or out with mares or geldings. This stunning mare will always have a secure future with The Blue Cross and deserves a loving loan home where she can relax and enjoy life. Tia will be rehomed under our equine healthcare package which is sponsored by Fort Dodge. The scheme covers the costs of routine inoculations and an annual veterinary health check as well as providing wormers for a year. It is proving to be very effective in helping to secure loving homes for many of our companion horses and ponies.
We would like to hear from anyone with the knowledge and the facilities to take on a companion horse or pony like Tia Maria and give them a second chance in life. For more information please click here or phone 01993 822454. |
