A West Midlands man has completed an arduous week long trek in Norway for charity, the Bromsgrove Advertiser has revealed.
Mark Higgins, from Dudley, trekked through Norway with husky dogs and managed to raise £2,500 that he will donate to the Blue Cross.
The trip was the culmination of a year-long series of fund raising events planned by Mr Higgins.
Other fundraising activities he took part in included; shaving his head and selling meals he had cooked himself to work colleagues.
Mr Higgins said the Arctic trip was tiring but unforgettable.
"I had a team of six dogs for the trip and slept in a tent through temperatures of minus 25 degrees, living on frozen sandwiches and boil in the bag meals. It was certainly a once in a lifetime experience."
The Blue Cross stated it was grateful for Mr Higgin's efforts because donations are relied on by the charity to care for its homeless pets.
Last month the Blue Cross encouraged pet owners to get involved with fund raising by holding a sponsored tea party on May 16th.
