Pet owners concerned about how their animals may react to noises on Bonfire Night have been issued advice by industry experts.
Barry Briggs, dog warden for Rutland County Council, recently released tips to help nervous pets cope on November 5th.
Owners should keep pets inside where possible within a secured area so they feel safe.
"I would urge pet owners to get their pets used to spending time in a dark quiet spot in the house where soft music can be played to mask the flashes and bangs," he told the Stamford Mercury.
"If they are already relaxed in such a place it is easier to keep them calm when the fireworks are set off in the next few weeks."
Pet's kept outside, such as birds, would benefit from having their cages partially covered in order to block out some of the fireworks' noise.
Animal lovers can also consider asking vets for advice as they may be able to recommend animal behaviourists.
Figures from animal welfare charities show that up to 45 per cent of dogs exhibit signs of stress on November 5th.
