Equine obesity – a killer disease

There is a worrying trend in the United Kingdom; horses are getting fatter!

At The Blue Cross, 40% of the horses taken in last year were overweight or obese. Some of the ill effects caused by obesity can never be reversed.

Over the years many of us have got used to horses being fatter, the Fat Horse Slim campaign has been designed to help horse keepers understand what is a healthy weight, and how to keep their horse within a healthy range.
