The Olympic Sliding Centre

The Olympic Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton Track at Igls is the place to go for adrenaline fuelled thrills. This track was the first of its kind and enjoys cult status having hosted the 1976 Winter Olympic Games and Stefan Raab’s Wok World Championships.

Meet your Olympian host

The Ice Track Challenge will take place over three days and you will be trained and supervised by Olympian Tony Wallington, OBE, who competed in the Olympic Bobsleigh while captaining the British Team. With the experience of seven Olympic Winter Games you will be under his expert supervision as he coaches and mentors you throughout this exhilarating skeleton and bobsleigh challenge. You will also meet Tony at a special training day at Bath University, the UK’s only bobsleigh and skeleton push start track.

Day One

Fly to Innsbruck, where you’ll be met by your Blue Cross representative and the rest of the group. After checking in at Hotel Baer and lunch, you’ll walk the track and learn its twists and turns with coach Tony Wallington OBE.

Hit the ice! Start your skeleton training, slowly working up the track for more speed. After training it’s time to experience the speed and white knuckle thrill of the four man bobsleigh. Then back to the hotel for debrief, dinner and reception.

Day Two

After breakfast you’ll have a walk of the run to refresh your memory, then training starts from the very top of the Ladies Luge Start.

Time to race! Put everything you’ve learned into practise and blast down the track as quickly as you dare. Use your six runs to perfect your technique and get your fastest time. For those yet to experience it, there’s another chance for a run on the four man bobsleigh, before a well-earned celebration dinner at the hotel and the award ceremony.

Day Three

Enjoy a well earned leisurely breakfast, before checking out for the flight home. You’ve now experienced the pinnacle of winter ice sports – congratulations!
