Dog eating dog-friendly birthday cake

How to make a dog-friendly birthday cake

Celebrate your furry friend's special day with a birthday cake for dogs.

All dogs love a sweet treat, and a dog birthday cake is the perfect way to spoil them on their special day. With our vet-approved cake recipe your pet will enjoy celebrating as much as we do!

Note

Treats should be given in moderation and alongside a well-balanced diet. Always check with your vet if your dog has any special dietary requirements.

Before you bake

Carefully check the ingredients below and do not feed if your dog is allergic to any of them. In large quantities, baking soda is unsuitable for dogs. This recipe is completely safe for dogs, but be sure to prevent them from eating pure baking soda.

Depending on the size of your dog, you may also wish to feed a smaller dinner portion after giving them a slice of birthday cake. Always consider their diet and weight when feeding them treats.

What you'll need:

Utensils

  • Weighing scales
  • Measuring jug
  • Measurement spoon set
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Whisk
  • Cake tin (around 20cm in diameter)
  • Rubber-ended spatula

Ingredients:

  • 170g liquified coconut oil
  • 1 tsp alcohol-free vanilla extract
  • 227ml of pure honey
  • 170g xylitol-free peanut butter
  • Two whisked eggs
  • 100g shredded carrots
  • 256g wholewheat flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda

How to make a dog-friendly birthday cake

  1. Mix the coconut oil, vanilla extract, honey, peanut butter and eggs in a mixing bowl until combined
  2. Add the shredded carrot and mix
  3. Mix in the wholewheat flour and baking soda
  4. Spread the mixture into your cake tin with your rubber spatula, making sure to smooth the surface
  5. Place your cake into the oven for 20 minutes at 180 degrees celsius
  6. Once cooked, take your cake out of the cake tin and place it on a heat-proof surface
  7. Use your rubber spatula to 'ice' the top of your cake with peanut butter

Now you can serve a small slice to your pooch!
