Blue Cross declares a kitten crisis

Blue Cross has declared a kitten crisis in Cumbria after already taking in a third more kittens this year compared to 2014.

We’re worried the numbers of abandoned and unwanted young cats will continue to rise throughout the summer months.

Joanne Park, Volunteer Foster Carer for Blue Cross in Carlisle said: “We hope owners come forward for all of the kittens in our care soon. We are concerned that not enough local cats have been neutered and that we won’t have room to take in more unwanted litters.”

We currently have 16 kittens in our care in the area.

Sadly two litters were admitted suffering from serious eye conditions, one is now blind and others will have restricted sight. All will soon be looking for new homes to go to.

If you’re thinking of adding a kitten to your family, please consider a Blue Cross pet.
