It’s not just being hungry or cold… it’s that nobody cares if you’re hungry or cold.

Ten-month-old Prim was brought to our Newport centre after being picked up as a stray. She had severe mange which had been left untreated for months. It was heartbreaking knowing that she was in pain for so long, and didn’t have anybody who cared enough to give her the medicine she needed to get better.

It was like she’d never known a true friend in her whole life.

We made sure she had a warm bed to spend the night in and nutritious food to help her get stronger. Then we went about treating her skin, and showing her that she had people who cared about her. She had to have special medicated baths to cure her mange and soothe her skin, and we gave her lots of gentle cuddles so she’d know that she wasn’t alone anymore.

It took a bit of time, but Prim’s fur slowly started to grow back. And she started to realise that she actually liked treats and cuddles!

This Christmas, you can show a pet like Prim that you do care. By giving £25 which could help welcome a pet into a Blue Cross centre, you’ll help them see that they’ve got a true friend.
