Dumped in a sealed box and left alone – now these cats and kittens need homes

Six kittens and cats who survived being left inside a sealed box with few air holes and are now looking for loving homes.

Thankfully, a dog walker found abandoned Coral, Turtle, Bubble, Jelly, Fin and Shrimp just in time and brought them to our Felixstowe rehoming centre in Suffolk.

Clare Williamson, Deputy Centre Manager at Blue Cross Felixstowe, said: “The dog walker saw the box dumped on farmland next to a busy road as he walked his pet, and could hear the sound of cats inside. The box was taped up with duct tape and only a few air holes had been cut into it.”

The dog walker took the box of cats back to his home to free them safely away from the road, and placed them in a larger container to make them more comfortable on the journey to our rehoming centre.

Clare added: “As soon as the team saw the cats we moved them straight to our isolation unit as we could see some of them looked quite poorly.”

Some of the cats had discharge coming from their eyes, a sign that they were unwell. One cat is a young adult, two are around four to five months old, and the youngest three are thought to be between two and three months old.

Clare said: “Each of the cats and kittens were checked over by our vet, and the three youngest have been given medication for their eyes.

“The poor cats seemed a bit overwhelmed by it all then they first came into the centre and most of the older cats spent a couple of days hiding, but they are now coming out of their shells and are interacting with the team.”

Coral, Turtle, Bubble, Jelly, Fin and Shrimp have all now got the all clear from the vet and are ready to find new homes.
