Hairy hound hopes haircut will help him find new home

A homeless hairy hound who has been transformed with a smart new haircut is hoping his makeover will help him find a new family.

Chewy, a six-year-old lhasa apso, arrived at the Blue Cross pet charity’s rehoming centre in West End, Southampton looking more than a little overgrown. The team at the centre thought that a little smartening up wouldn’t go astray and he is almost unrecognisable after his grooming session.

Laura Boyle, Rehoming Supervisor at Blue Cross, said: “Little Chewy was such a hairball when he arrived – he was well overdue for a bit of a trim. We got rid of so much hair, he looks almost half the size and I’m sure he’s feeling a lot cooler too!

“He’s such a sweet little dog and even harder to resist now he’s smartened up, hopefully it won’t be long before he gets snapped up by some lucky new owners.”

Chewy is a very happy friendly dog who loves socialising with people and going out for walks, so will make a lovely companion. He does have a sensitive skin condition, which means he has to stick to a special diet, but the team at the centre are happy to advise about this.

If you think you could offer this handsome hairball the happy home he deserves, please contact the Blue Cross rehoming centre in Southampton on 0300 777 1530 or visit www.bluecross.org.uk to find out more.
